Welcome to the Parley’s Trail Phase V Environmental Study!

The purpose of this project is to gain NEPA clearance necessary to build a bicycle and pedestrian trail.  The study area for Phase V of the Parley’s Trail will extend from 1100 East to the Jordan River Parkway and will utilize right-of-way owned by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) in some sections, and private property owners in other sections. Through this environmental process, the Study will identify a preferred alignment, develop preliminary design plans and include significant public outreach efforts.

The Parley's Trail will be the key east-west connection between the Salt Lake City’s two major north-south trails; the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and the Jordan River Parkway. The trail will be routed through densely developed neighborhoods of Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake City, providing an excellent recreational opportunity to residents of those neighborhoods. It will also provide users access to a larger regional trail system. The trail will commemorate an historic transportation corridor and offer a non-motorized alternative travel route to schools, businesses, services, and parks.
